I just heard from Eric...

He called about an ago - I just got Logan down for a nap so this is the first chance I've had to update.

Eric's in Kuwait now and is doing alright. He said that they will be doing training over the next few days before moving on into Iraq. Apparently he was on the plane for about 24 hours! They made a stop before leaving North Carolina to pick up some Marines, and they also stopped in Canada, Iceland, and Germany before making it to Kuwait. But he said the food there is decent, and they even have a 24-hour Starbucks which he took full advantage of ;)

Other than all that, I gave Logan plenty of kisses for Eric, and he said he'd try to call again in another day or two. Go ahead and start mailing him stuff! :)

Eric's on his way...

The Army pushed his flight back 24 hours so Eric ended up leaving today instead of yesterday. He sent me a message this morning saying that he was boarding the plane around 9 a.m. Eastern time, and when I talked to him earlier (a little before 5 a.m. Central time) he said that it was going to be a loooong flight. Apparently they're making a number of stops on their way to Kuwait to pick up other people... I think he said that they'll be stopping in Maine, Canada, Iceland, and Germany before finally reaching their destination, and each stop will be 2 hours or so... He'll be spending a LOT of time on that plane, but he'll be fed and hopefully he'll be able to get some sleep and read and all.

In the meantime, I've got to go make lunch for me and get Logan fed (he's 7 weeks old today!). I'll try to get some more pictures posted this weekend - most of the ones I have been taking lately are of various facial expressions of his. He can say so much with his face, it just amazes me! Logan is also starting to sleep for a little longer at night (4-5 hour stretches instead of 2-3) and he's awake and playing more often during the day. We don't go back to the pediatrician until February 12th so I can't tell you an accurate weight and length yet, but I can say that he's starting to outgrow some 0-3 month clothes of his mainly because he's so long. He is starting to fill out a bit though. I just get the feeling he'll be a tall and thin little boy...

Anyways, it's lunchtime and Logan is starting to tell me likewise so I'll end this... Eric told me he'll get in touch with me as soon as he can - most likely once he's in Kuwait - and once I hear from him all of you will know, I promise.

Eric's deployment date

Unless something changes between now and then, Eric is set to deploy on January 28th. This Wednesday. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated like I did during the last deployment, and hopefully time will fly and he'll be back home before we know it...

Pictures of Logan and a quick update

Well, tomorrow Logan will be 6 weeks old already and I can't believe it! Time's just flying by already, but I have been able to take plenty of pictures :)

Just CLICK HERE to view new pictures!

Anyways, I took Logan to the doctor a week ago because he'd been getting very fussy and I wanted to make sure that nothing was wrong with his stomach or anything else. Everything checked out well - he weighed 9 lbs on January 14th, and the doctor said his fussiness was probably acid reflux and a little bit of colic. She told me some things to do to try to help make Logan more comfortable and so far her suggestions seem to be working :) He's not near as fussy as he was and that's making it much easier to get through the night (I'm actually starting to get some sleep again - I may only sleep for 2-3 hours at a time, but hey, it's sleep!).

Logan's also got a blocked tear duct in his left eye (it'd been real goopy) so I'm keeping my eye on that - it's looking much better than it did a week ago, so that's awesome!

Other than all that, he's a healthy, growing baby boy! Within the past week he's been focusing on objects more, he's found his hands and is sucking on his fingers now to soothe himself, and he's starting to reach out to objects to touch them! Logan's also been smiling from time to time, and hopefully soon he'll smile in response to things/people instead of just randomly like he is now.

I can tell that during his "tummy time" he wants so badly to be able to lift his head and crawl all over the place - he gets his legs kicking like crazy and gets so frustrated when he realizes he's not moving anywhere! Once he's mobile, I know for sure that I'll have my hands full chasing him around :)

It's time for him to get fed again so I'll wrap this up... I hope everyone is staying safe (and warm!) and I'll update again later.

Hooray! I'm 3 weeks old today!

Logan is just such an adorable little baby - I just can't get over it! I find myself staring at him all the time :) He's just precious!

He's such a long and skinny little boy, but I assure you all that he's eating VERY well and getting bigger and stronger everyday :)

Logan is starting to spend more time awake during the day and is constantly looking around, observing his surroundings, and he's even starting to track things with his eyes as they move in front of his face! He's also lifting his head from time to time, working on building up the strength to support it on his own. He's got a real strong grip now so he'll hold onto my finger awful tight, and he's found his hands so he's constantly trying to get them in his mouth so he can suck on his fingers.

He's such a cute little boy and I just had to share a little bit of news with everyone while I had a minute. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!
