Hey folks. So this is Eric posting, finally. Last weekend, I went on a trip with a buddy of mine from college, Nate, and his dad. I loaded up the bike and rode from here to Columbia, SC, to Greenville, SC, to Asheville, NC, to Robbinsville, NC, back to Asheville, and then back to Fort Bragg.
I covered about 950 miles, and had a great time. We rode a stretch of road known as The Tail of The Dragon. It's US 129 between Robbinsville, NC and Tallahasee, TN. 318 turns in 11 miles. It was stupid amounts of fun, and the scenery is matched by very little that I've ever seen.
We camped at Fontana Villiage Campground and went to the Wheels Through Time museum. It's a really awesome place. They bill it as the museum that runs. Every complete motorcycle and car in the place runs. I actually got video of the owner starting up and riding away on a 1915 Harley! That is way too cool for school. After the museum we got some lunch at a place called the Bear's Den in Maggie Valley, NC and headed on up the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stopped for some pictures at the highest point on the Parkway, and at a place called Looking Glass Rock. As I said, the scenery was amazing.
We camped at the Mt. Pisgah federal campground.
The next morning, we continued down the Parkway to Asheville, then Nate and his Dad continued on up the Parkway, while I headed back to Fort Bragg. It was an awesome weekend, I had a tremendous amount of fun, and I can't wait to do another trip on a bike!
